I lost over 30 inches!

Ideal Protein helped me lose the weight: over five months, I dropped from 196 lbs and a BMI over 30 to a weight in the 150s and a BMI under 25. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter all my life – ever since my first child was born. If you looked in my closet, sizes ranged from 0-16. I didn’t like the way I looked, but I especially didn’t like the way I felt. At the rate I was going, I seriously felt like I was going to die.

I’ve struggled with my weight on and off since I was nine years old, but I believe it began generations before I was born. Many members of my family were obese. My family lived on high carbohydrate meals. I lived my entire life craving food – I usually wasn’t even hungry. My weight topped out at 276 pounds. I wore size 4X tops and 24W pants. When I moved to Cedar Rapids in 2011 for my dream job, I decided to take control of my life.

After a year on Ideal Protein, I lost 100 pounds. I am off blood pressure medication. I have so much more energy – I can run up a flight of stairs without feeling winded, and I can almost keep up with my grandchildren. I celebrated my 60th birthday and bought a shirt that wasn’t plus size… and it fits!

Every day as a firefighter or paramedic, I would see people dealing with health issues, exacerbated with being overweight. I didn’t want this to be me. I wanted to see my kids get married, have children, and see THOSE children graduate from high school.

I came in for a regular checkup in July 2013, and when I got on the scale it read 337. That was the final straw. In August, I started Ideal Protein. By March 2014, I weighed 237 pounds – that’s 100 pounds in less than a year. I went from wearing size 52 pants to size 36 or 38. I went from wearing a 4X to an XL. I have about 17 pounds to go to hit my goal of 220.
